Middle-Aged Men Lose Testosterone and Sleep

Middle-Aged Men Lose Testosterone and Sleep: "- Sent using Google Toolbar"

There is a whole neuro-endocrine circuit at work here. Natural aging decreases testosterone. But when we pile on stress and unhealthy habits the problem is compounded exponentially. Testosterone levels can be normalized and even enhanced with natural nutritional methods. Stress management and sleep hygiene must be enforced to normalize the body clock.

Middle aged men who have spent years being sleep deprived and over stressed will begin to experience decrease of muscle mass, increase of fat especially around the middle, an increase in pains, decreased brain function, increased risk of diabetes and heart disease, and increase in blood pressure, and decreased libido and ability to perform sexually. Not a pretty picture. They present to my office usually when they hit a wall and cannot function any more.

All of this is not normal aging! It is the body breaking down after years of abuse. It DOES NOT have to be this way. My suggestions:

7 hours sleep in a dark room
Bedroom should be only for sleeping and sex, no eating!
No eating withing 2 hours of bed
Drink 64-80 oz/2-3 L of water every day, this excludes any other drinks
No diet anything foods or drinks with artificial sweeteners
Eat your fruits & veggies! Lean protein OK, reduce or eliminate simple carbs....white flour & sugar
Get at least a multi-vitamin for your nutritional deficiencies
There's more but this is a good start!

Get an endocrine panel done...brain chemicals, testosterone, cortisol, thyroid, etc.
Get a checkup every year!

Once you establish the state of your internal health you can begin to take specific measure to improve and correct the situation! Are you really living? Or are those little nagging things becoming more frequent? Listen to them and do something about it!

My office offers help in these areas!
