Vitamin D is big in the news again. At one time pushed aside for newer and more exciting nutrients Vitamin D is making a comeback in our recognition of its importance. It functions more like a hormone, triggering many critical functions in our bodies. That 70% of U.S. children are deficient is shocking and does not bode well in the already dismal picture of the health of Americans, and now especially children. What kind of future is possible with so many kids developing diseases of old age? Juvenile diabetes, obesity, and even osteoporosis has reached epidemic proportions and Vitamin D deficiency is one piece of the missing nutritional puzzle in these diseases and more. Get your kids outside to play and get them off the junk food! The richest country in the history of the planet is eating itself to death!
