Vital Signs - Regimens - Eat Your Vegetables, but Not Too Many - NYTimes.com: "- Sent using Google Toolbar"

An 88 year old woman ate 2-3 pounds of the vegetable bok choy every day for several months and was admitted to the hospital nearly comatose "unable to walk or swallow and barely able to breathe." She thought it would help her diabetic condition but as it turns out bok choy inhibits thyroid function and she already had and underactive thyroid. The thyroid is a master gland and it's function is critical to much of the body.

The take home of this story is that:
1) food and nutrients have a powerful effect on the body.
2)everything in moderation
3)check with a doctor before reading something and putting yourself on a program

How does anyone eat 3 pounds of veggies a day, much less an 88 year old woman? Was she eating anything else??
