BBC News - Meningitis C vaccine 'wears off in early teens'

The immune system works on memory. Foreign invaders are identified, dispatched, and memorized for future cases. The immune system doesn't forget. If vaccines are designed to stimulate the immune system into an immune response then how could it be that a booster would be needed? Maybe it never worked in the first place? Or maybe the drug companies need to increase sales?
